‘That’s strange’ – Fans left confused as Gerwyn Price makes major change for Premier League

Gerwyn Price has left fans confused after changing his walk-on music for Premier League night eight.

'The Iceman' failed in his bid to keep pace with Luke Littler and Luke Humphries as the Premier League darts tour landed in Newcastle as he suffered a thumping defeat to Rob Cross in his quarter-final tie.

Price took position for his usual walk-on in the Toon on the eighth evening of tungsten action, with fans expecting to see him walk to the oche to the sound of his traditional 'Ice Ice Baby' soundtrack by Vanilla Ice.

But incredibly, the Welshman decided to make a change and made his way up on stage to the sound of Miles Smith's 'Nice to Meet You'.

It was a major alteration for Price who had been looking for a new walk-on song, in a previous plea to fans on social media.

But fans were confused as to why he has made the change this week, having played in hometown Cardiff last Thursday.

One wrote: "Why has Gerwyn Price changed his walk on music?"

Another added: "Gerwyn Price what on earth have you done?"

One even noticed: "Interesting change of walk-on song for Gerwyn Price.

"Not sure why he didn't do something different last week in front of a home crowd."

Price's change didn't bring him luck as he bowed out to Rob Cross

It isn't the first time Price has decided to experiment with new walk-on music.

In 2022's Premier League campaign, he decided to adopt Katy Perry's famous tune 'Roar' in tribute to his trademark celebration.

The song change went down a treat with fans but he chose to go back to his trademark track.

Despite his alteration, Price focused on business as he took on Cross in the night's quarter final in the North East.

Price found himself struggling as Cross crashed into a 4-0 lead with the former world champion unable to get going.

He was able to pull back two consecutive legs and was hoping that it would kickstart a dramatic comeback.

But unfortunately for Price, Cross closed out the match, pinning a double 16 to oust Price and make him pay with a 6-2 win.

The 40-year-old will hope to turn around his fortunes next week as the invitational tournament takes the eight players to Berlin.
